Candidates seeking admission to the first year of the Bachelor Degree
shall be required to have passed higher secondary examination conducted
by the Government of Tamilnadu or an examination accepted as equivalent.
The upper age limit for admission to UG courses will be 21 years as on 1st july
of the year of admission, however a relaxation of 5 year is permitted for
physically handicapped. Preference will be given to those who have studied
the respective subject in their qualifying examination.
For PG Courses, the qualifying examination marks in part III(Major, Allied)
alone shall be taken into consideration
M.Phil and PhD
Candidates seeking admission to Research programme shall be required to have completed their relevant Post Graduate degree
Rules & Regulations
The first bell for the class is rung at 9.55 a.m. and the second bell. at 10 a.m for the commencement of the morning prayer.A bell is given at the end of each period. A long bell is given
at the end of the day at 3.30 p.m.
At the first bell, students shall go to their respective classes and take their seats
so as to be present when the teacher enters.
No student shall leave the classroom during a lecture without the permission of
1. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of each hour.
2. A student who is not in the class when attendance is taken will be marked absent.
3. Late-comers will not be admitted to the class without an admission slip
from the Principal or a person authorised by him for the purpose.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
A student requiring leave for a portion of a class must apply to the teacher in
person before the class begins.
A Student requiring leave for a whole session or more must apply for it in writing
to the Head of the Department.
All leave application must be sent in the prescribed form ,available in the College
A student who applies for long leave on grounds of illness must attach a medical
certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner with his/her leave application form. In any case, the medical certificate must reach the College Office within 5 days of the student's return to th
classes. Medical Certificates submitted later will not be accepted. Production of the
medical certificate will not automatically enable a student to get condonation of
shortage of attendance.
Students will be fined for absence without leave and fined heavily for such absence
at the beginning and the end of a semester or before and after a College holiday.
Any fine, by whomsoever imposed, must be paid only at the College Office and
nowhere else. A numbered receipt must be obtained for it and shown to the
person who imposed the fine.
Continued absence without leave for more than 10 working days will render a
student liable to have his / her name struck off the rolls of the College.
ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR FOR THE END SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS
A student will be eligible to appear for the End Semester Examinations at the end
of a semester only if,
He / She puts in at least 75% attendance at classes, practicals,language
He / She shows satisfactory progress in studies, in all tests and examinations
conducted by the College / Department during the semester and secures at least
reasonsable minimum marks in them.
Absence from Tests and Examinations will be viewed seriously.
His / Her conduct in the College during the semester has been satisfactory.
GOOD MANNERS AND BEHAVIOUR
1.Students attending classes, meetings or other gatherings within the College are
expected to be presentably dressed in accordance with approved etiquette.
2.When a student meets a member of the staff for the first time in the day,
he / she must greet him / her appropriately.
3.Students are forbidden to smoke in the College premises, to write or make any
mark on the walls or desks or throw paper or ink on the walls or floors of the
classrooms or corridors. Severe action will be taken against the offenders.
4.Students are not allowed to loiter about or stand in the verandahs or corridors
of the College during class hours.
1. Students should abstain from active participation in party or communal politics.
2. The Principal shall have full power to inflict the following punishments in the
interest of the students or the Institution: Fine,loss of attendance, loss of term certificate, suspension or expulsion.
3. Students should not indulge in any activity leading to the disruption of peace and
discipline, or dislocation of the normal functions or meetings. Those who are found guilty
of violation of this rule will attract any of the punishments mentioned in Disciplinary
Regulations, para 3 above.
4. Students who are guilty of (a) rude language towards the staff of the College
(b) assaulting or attempting to assalut fellow-students or the College employees or
other staff of the College will attract any of the punishments mentioned in
Disciplinary Regulations, para 3 above;
5. No private collection of funds shall be made from the students or the staff without
the prior permission of the Principal.
The academic year for fee purposes shall be divided Into two terms:
1. The first term commences from the re-opening of the College after the summer
vacation and continues till the end of October. The second term commences from
the last week of November and continues till the end of March or April, normally.
2. The Term fees shall be paid in one instalment except where otherwise specified.
3. Every student has to pay the whole fees for the year during any part of which
his / her name is on the rolls and his / her attendance registered, whether such fee
be paid in one sum or in two instalments, except where other wise specified.
4. The whole amount of the first term fees must be paid by a new student before
his / her name is on the rolls and his / her attendance registered except where otherwise
5. All fees payable by students will be issued a receipt for every payment.
Students must preserve these fee receipts carefully till the end of the course.
6. Students who do not pay the fees by the due dates shall pay a fine of Rs.10/- for each
working day after the due dates. Absence with or without leave is no grounds for exemption from this rule.
7. Names of students who have not paid the whole fees before the last day for
payment of the fees with fine are liable to be struck off the rolls. Such students will be
e-admitted only on payment of the entire amount of the fees due with fine along with
Rs. 10/- as re-admission fee. They will also lose attendance from the date on which t
heir names are struck off the rolls till the date of their re-admission.
8. Holders of scholarships and fee Concessions from Government or University or
College or other sources are also bound by all the foregoing regulations.
9. The College reserves the right to increase the rates of fees to all classes at the
beginning of any academic year if additional costs have to be met.
